Her story
Irene Bennett was 39, a mother of three who drove for United Cab.
On the evening of May 8, 1993, she picked up a fare on Marine Boulevard in Jacksonville headed toward Catherine Lake Road. When she stopped answering her radio, her fellow drivers went looking for her. They found her the next afternoon, on Mother's Day, near her cab on a farm off Coston Road. The medical examiner found that she had been assaulted and strangled.
The Sheriff's Office has reopened her case several times over the years.
